Overcome Weight Loss frustration

Overcome Weight Loss frustration with Kinesiology

Recently on a Sunday morning in Dublin, I was driving to class and was sure it wouldn’t take that long.  The first part of the journey was easy as every light was green.  I was making good progress and even a little pleased that I’d made the right route choice! But then after about 5 minutes of making a good distance, suddenly I hit every red light and frustratingly the journey took me much longer than it should have.

When it comes to getting on the road to weight loss, eating foods to which you’re sensitive can be like meeting red light after red light after red light.  It may even seem like we’re making the right food choices at first, but frustratingly something is making losing weight much longer than it should.

With Irish men scoring the highest body mass index (BMI, a key measure of being overweight), in Europe. Irish women ranking third in this category, and one in four children in Ireland now classified as overweight or obese, concern is growing about the inevitable impact on our hearts.

A person who is overweight is defined as having a BMI of between 25 and 29, while a BMI of over 30 defines obesity. The strong link between being overweight and heart disease is underlined by World Heart Federation statistics which show that 21pc of chronic heart disease cases are actually attributable to having a BMI of over 21, which, for many people would come as a shock. –https://www.independent.ie/life/health-wellbeing/a-weighty-problem-how-ireland-is-on-course-to-be-the-fattest-nation-in-europe-36909596.html

What we eat every day plays an important role in how we feel every day

If your body is sensitive to that food, means you may experience an unpleasant digestive reaction.  But not always.  Digestive reactions can include bloating, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea and weight gain.  But other systems can be affected too, and could be a cause of pain, joint stiffness, brain fog, learning difficulties, anxiety and low mood.digestive problems helped with Systematic Kinesiology

A food sensitivity is different from an allergy

A sensitivity is generally a reaction by the digestive system rather than the immune system, though other areas of the body can also be affected.  A sensitivity can be hard to detect since symptoms can take many hours to appear.   An allergy is a fast acting reaction by the immune system when it perceives an immediate threat, which can often be life-threatening.  These are more easily spotted, whereas a food sensitivity can often go unnoticed for many years.

If you have symptoms of low energy, digestive issues, bad skin, for longer than 3 months, it is worth investigating your diet to see if there might be some sensitivities.

Everyday foods can develop into sensitivities.

Foods which we rely on and make up the bulk of our diet can unfortunately become the very foods we should avoid.  While it’s all too easy to make a list and simply avoid those foods, this is a simplistic and often leads to restricting your diet unnecessarily.  Everyone is different, and while one food may not suit you, it could very nutritious for someone else.

By giving up foods my diet became more varied not more restricted

Occasionally the foods we eat every day, even 4-5 times a day, will be a food we will develop a sensitivity to.  No one should be eating the same foods every day, as a varied diet is generally accepted as being more healthful.  When I learned I was sensitive to wheat, it was only then that I recognised I was eating it at every meal.  Breakfast was a wheat cereal, lunch was a sandwich, dinner was pasta, and the odd biscuit snack.  I didn’t realise how restricted my diet was.  At first I did worry what I might eat, but that was simply a symptom of not appreciating how many different, tasty and easy non-wheat options were available.

What if I avoid my food sensitivities and nothing changes?

While it won’t come as a shock to you that the food you put in your body is important when it comes to weight, what may be surprising is the role food sensitivities play in making weight loss more difficult.  However, if you’ve been there done that, then there may be other factors at play.  If you’re under a considerable amount of stress, then you could be suffering from adrenal exhaustion.   That in turn could be triggering a thyroid issue which slows down your metabolism.  If food sensitivities aren’t making a difference, either the tests you did didn’t identify them all, or there’s perhaps a nutritional deficiency affecting digestion and or absorption.  Common deficiencies might be digestive enzymes, low stomach acid, or zinc.  And while you may not suffer from indigestion, you may have sub optimal digestion.

These are all questions that can be addressed when you visit a Systematic Kinesiologist who will be able to guide your body back to health, which will allow it to release the extra weight. Healthy body first, weight loss second. There are lots of ways to lose weight, that don’t make you healthy. By working with your body, not against it, peace and calm return, particularly around the area of food, and weight loss will be faster and easier.

If you’d like to learn how to do accurate food sensitivity testing, we cover this topic on our first weekend of training on “Balanced Health”.  This course is suitable if you’re a practitioner wanting to add to the services you provide, or keen to deepen your understanding of how the body works, and want to create a positive health culture in your home.

Living with eczema: How I helped my daughter

Eczema: How I helped my daughter

Eczema is a very common skin condition due to skin inflammation. It may start at any age but the onset is often in childhood.  According to the Irish Skincare Foundation, eczema affects one in five children in Ireland and about one in 12 adults. Some 65% of children grow out of it by age 7, 75% by age 16. But for a quarter of patients, it continues to adulthood.Eczema

The term ‘atopic’ is used to describe a group of conditions, which include asthma, eczema, hay-fever and food allergy. These conditions are all linked by an increased activity of the allergy side of the body’s immune system.

It can affect any part of the skin, including the face, but the areas that are most commonly affected are the creases in the joints at the elbows and knees, as well as the wrists and neck.

What people don’t realise, for example, is that for 60% of sufferers, itchy, sore skin causes sleep deprivation, leading to poor concentration and poor school or work performance. Often it causes bad mood in children and teenagers with eczema. They can become depressed and have low self esteem. Parents of children with moderate/severe eczema must establish a strict routine of daily baths, applying moisturiser at least three times a day and apply steroids. It’s very tough and parents and eczema suffers. Parents can feel tired, frustrated and hopeless. However there is hope ….

Hear Vashti’s story about eczema …..

I came across Kinesiology by chance. I have a young daughter who suffered very badly from eczema from the time she was born. It was so bad she barely slept at night as the itch was so bad. There were deep gouges in her wrists and ankles where she has scratched so much and they would Exzemanot heal.

She was prevented in nursery from playing the water, sand and paint isolating her from the other kids. The creams prescribed by the doctors were generally not strong enough to make a difference. When we were prescribed something that worked as soon as she had finished the course it came back again within hours.

The day my daughter’s life changed  One day we were at swim lessons and another mother asked me about her skin and suggested I see a Kinesiologist… A what?  I had no idea what this entailed but at this stage I was desperate and eager to try anything at this point. Eczema

After her consultation we found out that ‘whey protein’ was causing a problem, along with other foods.  Two weeks after removing these things from her diet most of her skin cleared up and she was starting to sleep through the night. It was a few months later and some probiotcs that helped heal up the worse affected areas… I WAS HOOKED.  I couldn’t believe the difference.

Then I started to research on the internet about Kinesiology and I came across KinesiologyZone.  I read so much and watched lots of videos and found it could help with so many other things.

So I decided I wanted to take it further and I have not being disappointed.

I booked my place on “Balanced Health” the course being run in Donegal and couldn’t wait to get started. When I attended my first weekend I felt as if I had come home. The instructors were amazing as were my fellow students. As the weekend progressed I was absolutely amazed at the human body and what it can do. I went home to practise, I know I am only at the beginning of my learning but I have being able to help so many people already. I have being searching for a way to help others for a while now but before this I hadn’t found anything I was comfortable with.

Helping family through stressful house moves and job changes. One family member who always had trouble sleeping, now sleeps soundly every night through my help! I can now help people with digestive problems and stress issues.

I have found it a privilege to be able to help people in this way and I look forward to being able to do it more. One of the main reason that i decided to do this course was to help others the same way my daughter has being helped. I have being able to do this.

I have also felt the benefit of better health in my own life.

During our food testing segment in our first weekend i found that milk did not agree with me. At first i wasn’t going to do anything about the information as I love milk!  But in the end decided to leave milk out of my diet for a couple of days and see what happened.  And I was shocked. I had being suffering stomach problems for years and didn’t think much of it as I thought it was something I would just live with. However once I eliminated the milk, I no longer had the pain. I have also being pleasantly surprised by the fact that I have being feeling better as I treat other people. That was not something I was expecting”.

In Systematic Kinesiology, we have found in many cases that why people have allergies is not addressed. Nothing whatsoever has being done to deal with the causes of their problems. The questions of why they have allergies in the firs places are often not asked. We must remember each person has different nutritional needs and sensitivities. Everyone is different. One man’s meat is (frequently) another man’s or woman’s poison. What suits one person, certainly may not be all the suitable for another.

Thanks to Vashti for sharing her story. If you want to make a difference in your family’s health and life and those around you, sign up and hear more about the benefits of Kinesiology.  Be the first to hear about upcoming free talks, taster events and training courses.

The Benefits of Rebounding for 5 minutes

What is rebounding ?….The typical rebound mini-trampoline is about 3′ in diameter and 9″ high. It is safe, easy to use, and effective. Research has led some scientists to conclude that jumping on a mini-trampoline is possibly the most effective exercise yet devised by man, especially because of the effect rebounding has on the lymph in the body.

Have you ever looked out the kitchen window and see the kids bouncing on the trampoline and think that looks fun… well it is it and it is so good for you. So next time take a few minutes and jump on the trampoline and feel the benefits in your body.

The human body needs to move. The lymph system bathes every cell, carrying nutrients to the cell and waste products away. Contrary to blood which is pumped by the heart, the lymph is totally dependent on physical exercise to move. Without adequate movement, the cells are left stewing in their own waste products and starving for nutrients, a situation which contributes to arthritis, cancer and other degenerative diseases as well as ageing. Vigorous exercise such as rebounding is reported to increase lymph flow by 15 to 30 times.

All the Neuro-Lymphatic points stimulate by energy reflexes the flow of lymph to the related muscle and organ. There is twice as much lymph as blood in the body. It is a non-cellular fluid. It permeates the tissue where blood cells that are imprisoned in capillaries cannot go since there are too large. The lymph feeds and cleans the bodies tissues.

Lymph vessels can become clogged with protein deposits or the flow can stagnate or even stop for reasons such as fatigue, stress, infection, emotional shock, lack of physical activity or dehydration. Toxins accumulate, cells are unable to function properly resulting in various metabolic and infectious problems.

All cells in the body become stronger in response to the increased “G force” during rebounding. Vertical motion workouts such as rebounding are much different and much more beneficial and efficient than horizontal motion workouts, such as jogging or running.

When you bounce on a rebounder (mini-trampoline), several actions happen:

  • An acceleration action as you bounce upward
  • A split-second weightless pause at the top
  • A deceleration at an increased G-force

These immune cells are responsible for eating viruses, bacteria and even cancer cells, so it is good that they be active. Jumping on a mini-trampoline directly strengthens the immune system, so it’s a big deal!

Safety

Everyone should start with the gentle bounce let your feet remain with the mat while the body moves up and down. The health bounce is sufficient to obtain all the benefits of rebounding while gently strengthening the entire body. You can sit chat on the phone,  put in your earbuds and listen to music. It is recommended that you do your rebounding with bare feet so you do not slip. Do not wear tight or constricting clothes. The more jiggling, the more your lymph system is flushing out those toxins!

Start with 5 minutes of rebounding and increase their time as their fitness level improves. Seniors can start with 2 minutes several times per day, with at least 30 minutes between rebounding sessions. Increase your rebounding time gradually.

Inactive seniors find that gently jumping on a mini-trampoline gives them renewed vigor and zest for life. Hyperactive children are reported to calm down after a few days of rebounding.  Everyone  can do this and people can use the rebound mini-trampoline whenever they have a few minutes during the day.

Just some of the Benefits

  • Boosts lymphatic drainage and immune function
  • Great for skeletal system and increasing bone mass
  • Helps improve digestion
  • Rebounding helps circulate oxygen throughout the body to increase energy.
  • Rebounding in a whole body exercise that improves muscle tone throughout the body.
  • Some sources claim that the unique motion of rebounding can also help support the thyroid and adrenals.
  • Rebounding is fun!

”Woman gave up WHEAT after she discovered it was the cause of her respiratory problems”

wheat free kinesiology

Lady suffered chest infections and was hospitalized for respiratory issues for years and it was all down to WHEAT

  • Ann’s throat would swell and she would have trouble breathing.

  • She had being diagnosed with asthma.

  • After being tested by a Kinesiologist she removed wheat from her diet and her health changed overnight.

Hear from Deborah Cunningham a Kinesiology Diploma student who treated the client –

A woman aged in her mid-forties came to see me. She had been suffering from frequent chest infections for years; had serious allergies to honey, cod, house dust and pollen and it was gradually worsening. Her throat would swell and she would have trouble breathing.  Her immune system was shot, so she dreaded the winter approaching and even in the summer she would get ill especially when traveling. She was diagnosed with asthma within the previous two years. As her symptoms worsened she was put on more inhalers and strong steroids she even ended up in hospital.  After hearing her history I did some food testing and found her main issue was Wheat!

Her diet consisted of alot of wheat, like so many people trying to find a healthy breakfast option she ate Weetabix daily for breakfast and had a daily diet consisting of pasta and bread.  She was willing to eliminate it and within a week she got in touch to tell me she felt miles better.

Within a short space of time she had lots more energy and had gradually reduced her inhalers with her doctor. By her third visit she almost off all her meds. She had Weetabix once over that period and ended up at the doctor with respiratory problems she stays away from the weetabix now!

People may not realize it, but the foods we are eating every day could be slowly corrupting our health and shortening your lifespan. After getting tested from a Kinesiologist, eliminating food is the only real way to know how Wheat is affecting your health.

Eliminate the usual foods for up to 25 days.
(The basic elimination diet is as simple as this: No gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, fast food, or alcohol.)

DO eat lots of fiber, fresh whole foods, and unprocessed meals you make yourself.
– DO eat lots of healthy fats found in olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, flax oil, walnut oil, and avocados.

After an elimination process of up to 25 days pick one thing you eliminated like gluten, dairy or eggs—but not more than one, and eat it.

See how you feel over the next 48 hours. If you have no reaction after two days, eat that same food again, and for a second time, notice how you feel. From there, it’s up to you whether or not to re-incorporate that food into your diet on a regular basis.

Once you’ve made a call on the first food you reintroduce, pick another one and follow the same steps.

Throughout the diet and the reintroduction process, notice how you feel. Maybe you’ll see changes you weren’t expecting. Maybe your sleep quality or your energy level is better. Maybe the redness in your skin is gone, or your belly is flatter or likes Deborahs’s client begin to feel and breathe better within days.

Deborah learned how to food test by attending one of our Balanced Health Training courses, by picking up these skills she has being able to go on and help other people around her.

What Chewbacca Mom Taught me ….

What Chewbacca Mom Taught me ….

Chewbacca Mom, Joy, Kinesiology

We have all seen the video of the Chewbacca mask and if you’re anything like me you laughed out loud.  Candace Payne has managed through social media to give us all a glimpse of how ‘simple joy’ doesn’t have to cost a lot of money and it can be the small things that can make an impact in someone’s life.  She has now over 817,000 followers on her profile and since her spontaneous and authentic video, she been on TV networks all over the US.  What is lovely is that her smile and laugh have stayed the same.

She made an instant connection with so many people through her authentic self, joy and happiness. She has managed to make so many people smile in one week, and since!  It made me start to think about what we do here at KinesiologyZone.

And in one sense we are doing the same, helping people to smile, find their joy, passion and contribute in a big way.  While maybe not on a worldwide scale (yet!) it is our mission to reach more people and show them that life doesn’t have to be hard, fearful, or stressful.  With more training courses than ever happening around Ireland and a record number of students joining us this year we are helping more and more people to experience the wonderful holistic approach of Systematic Kinesiology. Candace helped us to remember to be ourselves, connect with others and the simple joy that can be found in a moment.

And our “work” has everything to do with joy which is evident from some of our student success stories:

Just read Laura’s recent “win”:

”My client wanted a nutritional test done so I did a full wheel balance and her left arm muscles all were weak. She hadn’t been able to do any of her boot camp classes so from that I did priority and worked on the two that showed up.  I was delighted how I could immediately know what the best treatment I could move onto which would help her pain. The next morning she texted to say the pain had gone and could now move her arm more freely. She will be back to her classes this week”.

Now hear Elaine’s joy

”I had twin girls aged 11 attend … I carried out full wheel balances with priority and food and nutrition testing to the best of my ability. I received a text from their mum saying the two girls are doing fantastic eating a lot healthier, sleeping a lot better and loads of energy and are returning in 3 weeks’ time for another appointment”

And one last one from Shauna….

”My client with a neck issue from birth came back for a Balance. She is in great form! No pain in her neck!  She is very busy setting up a new business and has been extremely busy. Not having to deal with her once constant pain has made this easier. We worked on positive affirmations to build her self-confidence.”

If you spread joy in your daily life we want to hear from you, as it would give us great joy to hear your story …
